Many say the creed, but not necessarily understand what the meaning of “Muhammad is the messenger of God.” This shahada has consequences: must be obedient, believe, stay away from prohibitions, and worship according to the guidance of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Without these four things, shahada could be only formality in oral. Let’s understand its meaning to truly become a true Prophet.
The meaning of the shahada that Muhammad is the Prophet containing four main elements:
- Obey him in everything he ordered.
- Allows everything he says.
- Stay away from what he was forbidden and avoided.
- There is no worship of God except with the law he brought.
These four things are valid conditions and perfection of our recognition to them. Therefore, every order from the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam must be obeyed, both mandatory and sunnah. Mandatory orders should not be abandoned, while Sunnah’s orders, even though they are not binding, are still highly recommended and rewarded when done.
The word of God:
{And what we sent from a messenger except to obey God’s permission}
“And we don’t send messengers, but to be obeyed with God’s permission.” (Surah An-Nisā ‘: 64)
Because compliance with messengers means compliance with God. Because, what he brought was a revelation from God, not his own will. Allah said:
{Judgment only for God}
“Setting the law is only God’s right.” (QS. Yūsuf: 40)
Unfortunately, many people who say the creed in prayer and during the call to prayer, but they have not realized the meaning of the creed in life. Even though Allah said:
{And Messenger doesn’t take you, then take it, and what he has lumped from it, so they will
“What the messenger gives you, then accepts it. And what is forbidden is to go.” (Surah Al-ḥasyr: 7)
Similarly, in terms of justifying all the news he conveyed. Because he never spoke based on lust. What he said was a revelation that would be true. The person who denied him means that he has not yet acknowledged that he is a messenger of God.
Third, stay away from what it prohibits. Many Muslims are ignored in this matter. They are still prohibiting the apostles in worship, morals, and worship. This shows the weakness of faith. In Islam, the order is adjusted to the ability, while the prohibition does not have tolerance – diversification.
Rasulullah (may peace on it) said:
“I did not forbid you from him, so they avoid it, and what I ordered for you to do with him, so they came from him, what you can.”
“What I forbid is stay away, and what I ordered and then do it as much as you can.” (Hours. Bukhari and Muslim)
Fourth, there is no worship of God except what is done. This is an important principle of religion. Worship cannot be done, not based on intelligence or lust, nor is it based on traditions that do not have an argument. Worship only applies if in accordance with sharia.
This principle complements the two main foundations in religion: sincerely – not worship except Allah, and mutaba’ah – not worship except in the way permitted by the Prophet ﷺ.
Anyone who worship without shar’i propositions, let alone consider it as a mandatory or sunnah exercise, then it is a heresy. There is no term “Bid’ah” according to these religious priests. All hereticals.
Many arguments emphasize the importance of following the Prophet ﷺ and avoid all forms of religion. Allah said:
{Those who follow the messenger of the Prophet Mother …}
“(Namely) Those who follow the messenger, Prophet …” (Surah Al-A’rāf: 157)
{And follow, so you can be guided}
“Follow him so you get guidance.” (Surah Al-A’rāf: 158)
{Say: If you love God, then follow me …}
“Say: If you (really) love God, follow me, surely Allah loves you.” (Surah āli ‘imrān: 31)
{Say: Do we tell you about the loser of work …}
“Say: Will we preach to you about the people who are the most loss of their actions …” (Surah al-Kahf: 103–104)
{If they don’t respond to you, know that they follow their wishes …}
“If they do not answer (challenges) MU, know that in fact they only follow their passions …” (Surah Al-Qaṣaṣ: 50)
In the hadith al-‘irbāḍ bin Sāriyah, the messenger of Allah (may be peace with him) said:
“You have to, with my sunnah and the sunnah from the Caliph who are guided correctly, stick to him and bite it with a window, and you and the problem conversation.
“It is mandatory for you to hold on to my sunnah and the sunnah Rashidin Khulafaur Rashidin. Bite with your teeth. (HR. Abu Dawud)
The way of salvation is to follow the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. What he does in the framework of worship is an example for us. As God said:
{You are in God’s messenger, good.}
“Indeed, that is the (self) Prophet who is a good example for you.” (Surah Al-Aḥzāb: 21)
He says:
“Pray when you see me, I pray.”
“Pray as you see me pray.”
And in the pilgrimage:
“Take your people from me.”
“Take from me your Hajj procedures.”
Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab رحم K الله Say:
“As for the Apostle, it is obligatory for his people to follow him with confidence, words, and actions. All of that must be considered with his teachings. What is right, accepted.
Rasulullah (may peace on it) said:
“All my nations enter heaven unless those who refuse.”
“All my people will enter heaven except those who refuse.”
The friends asked, “Who refused, O God’s messenger?” He answered:
“Anyone who begged me, entered heaven, and anyone who did not obey me, he had a door.”
“Anyone who obeys me, then he goes to heaven. Anyone who humiliated me, then he refused.”
